Summary

Minimalist design requires perfect execution, a challenge met by Colorado Hardscapes at the Enso Zen Apartments.  By installing 3,769 square feet of decorative concrete, our team transformed a narrow amenity deck into a serene, Zen-inspired sanctuary.  This project highlights the seamless integration of Bomanite Sandscape® Texture and Bomanite Sandscape Refined to create a modern, monolithic outdoor space that exemplifies the Bomanite Distinction.

Navigating the Design Challenge: Achieving Precision in Restricted Footprints

Modern minimalist architecture relies on clean lines and a sense of continuity, both of which are difficult to achieve in restricted urban spaces.  The amenity deck at Enso Zen was remarkably narrow, presenting significant logistical difficulties for the installation team.  Access to elevated decks is rarely ideal, and this restricted footprint made maneuvering heavy equipment and specialized materials particularly difficult.

To ensure the serene and modern ambiance was not disrupted by mismatched geometry, our team took on the task of redesigning the jointing layout.  This site-specific engineering was critical to ensure that all linear sawcuts aligned precisely across the entire 3,769-square-foot area.  By solving these alignment challenges, the team delivered an aesthetically cohesive finish that complements the apartment complex’s overall aesthetic.

The Power of “Bomanite Black Diamond”: A Monolithic Modern Vision

The project’s striking visual appeal was directly influenced by the developer’s selections from Bomanite Design Center mockups.  Weins Development Group selected a modern dark color and intricate linear sawcuts to define the garden’s three distinct spaces.

The centerpiece of this minimalist design is a stainless-steel inlay of the apartment logo, which was meticulously integrated into the decorative concrete. Achieving a flawless execution required:

  • Meticulous Coordination: Precise placement by an experienced team was essential to ensure the inlay sat perfectly flush.
  • Precise Timing: The integration required exact timing during the concrete pour to achieve a seamless, high-end result.
  • Artisanal Quality: The logo underscores the attention to detail and artistry that defines the Bomanite Licensed Contractor network.

Advantages of a Monolithic Finish: Bomanite Sandscape® and Sandscape Refined

Bomanite Exposed Aggregate Systems are the premier choice for architects seeking a monolithic, natural appearance with the structural benefits of reinforced concrete.  Bomanite Sandscape® Texture, utilized here in 2,167 square feet of “Bomanite Capitol Hill” color, offers a consistent, sand-washed finish that is inherently slip-resistant and durable.  For a more sophisticated, contemporary look, Bomanite Sandscape Refined provides a finer aggregate exposure.  The 1,602 square feet of “Bomanite Black Diamond” color Bomanite Sandscape Refined used at ENSO Zen creates an eye-catching, modern patina that resists environmental wear while maintaining its architectural beauty.  Installed exclusively by specialized licensed contractors, these systems provide property owners with a high-ROI hardscape solution that retains its value for decades.
